Sharon Lucas, a literary advocate, avid reader and book club president of The Reading Divas, stopped by The Readers and Author's Nook. She offered thoughtful words about the value of African American literature, along with information about an upcoming literary event in Maryland.

"One cannot celebrate Black History Month without celebrating the rich history of literature in the Black community.  From the African American literary societies of the 1800's, to the Harlem Renaissance of the 1920's, to Terry McMillan and Oprah in the 1990's - we have read! So it is with great pleasure that we present - in celebration of Black History Month - twenty talented, local authors who represent many genres at the first Local Author's Showcase to be held at the Prince George's Sports & Learning Center on February 21.  Please come out in support of Black History Month and literacy in our county!" Lucas said.
